Established in 1896, Shodair Children's Hospital is a voluntary, non-profit, non-sectarian specialty hospital that provides psychiatric inpatient services to children and adolescents and their families in the state of Montana and from other states. Shodair also provides clinical genetic diagnostic and counseling services to families across Montana. Shodair is located in the state capitol of Helena. Shodair enjoys a long-standing tradition of providing quality care to children and adolescents and their families. An important component of the success of Shodair Children's Hospital has been its ability to explore new services and to modify its programs to meet the needs of its patients and the community. While Shodair was originated in 1933 as a community hospital, it has evolved into a highly respected psychiatric and clinical genetics specialty hospital. Current programs continue Shodair's tradition of providing quality, cost-efficient care and services. An important component of the success of Shodair Children's Hospital has been its ability to explore new services and to modify its programs to meet the needs of its patients and the community. Shodair Children's Hospital first received The Joint Commission accreditation in 1992, has been continuously accredited since that time, and will continue to seek ongoing accreditation. Shodair's education program is accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools. Additionally, Shodair Children's Hospital is the state's only Children's Miracle Network hospital.
