Rubery Owen has been a major player in automotive component technology since the birth of the motor car. In the 1930's RO was central to the manufacture of motor chassis, structural steelwork and aerospace components. The majority of British cars, pre-1980's would have been built using Rubery Owen components. RO was involved in the BRM, British Racing Motors, project from its origins in 1949, acquiring the controlling interest in the early 1950`s. In 1962, the BRM racing team celebrated winning the F1 Championship and, over the years, many acclaimed drivers drove for BRM, including Juan Manuel Fangio, Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart, Jose Froilan Gonzalez, Charles Anthony "Tony" Brooks, Joakim Bonnier and Pedro Rodriguez.
