Sharjah International Book Fair
Sharjah: Sharjah will spend about Dh4 million to implement reading-related projects for children whose lives have been disrupted by war, civil disorder or natural disasters in the regions of Central Asia and North Africa. The Sharjah International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) Fund was launched yesterday during the 4th Sharjah Children's Reading Festival 2012 by the UAE Board on Books for Young People (UAEBBY) and is supported by the government of Sharjah. The 10-year agreement was signed by Shaikha Budoor Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the UAEBBY and Ahmad Redza Khair Al Deen, president of the IBBY, it was announced at a press conference held in Sharjah on Monday. Shaikha Budoor said the fund aims to promote the culture of reading among children in crisis areas through workshops and book readings and ensure that children have access to books.
