Skrveru Saldumi

The idea to establish a plant came to Iveta and Normunds Audzišs who were expanding the milk-candy "Gotia" plant already existing in Lizums, where "Gotia" candies had been produced since 1959. Iveta and Normunds had already taken over the candy production traditions from their parents in 1998 in Lizums. The joint stock company producing sweets in Skrveri was closed in 2004, and as a result lots of professionals and specialists with many years of experience in "Gotia" production: production managers, as well as wrappers and candy boilers, had lost their job. Since this is a trade of a specific character and the production of the real milk candy "Gotia" is possible only with manual labour, professionals of the kind are the main treasure of our company. Having learned the unpleasant fact, the owners of "Dimdii" Ltd. - Iveta and Normunds Audzišs - who already possessed a "Gotia" candy making plant in Lizums, decided to expand their production and establish a manufacturing facility in Skrveri, thereby hiring these professionals and preserving the famous "Gotia" production tradition. In 2005, the factory was established at 82 Daugava Street, in the very centre of Skrveri, where the buildings of the former dairy and cheese factory were reconstructed. The brand "Skrveru Gotia" was also founded in the year 2005. This is how Skrveri preserved the tradition in producing "Gotia" candies, and the people were able to continue their work they had done for years and knew best. Skrveri and Lizums were among the first places in Latvia to start the production of "Gotia", and the traditional "Skrveru Gotia" candies are still produced there. At the very beginning, the authentic "Gotia" candy recipe included boiled fresh milk, sugar, glucose or starch syrup, butter and vanillin. Today the traditional "Skrveru Gotia" candies are produced at the "Skrveru Saldumi" company according to the same old recipe. At present Skrveri can be proud not only of the preserved "Skrveru Gotia" candy production, but also of the "Skrveru Saldumi" company, which has developed and created a new brand "ASPASIA", offering a variety of high quality sweets of a wide assortment from chocolate, dried and candied fruit, nuts, seeds, etc. The balance of the sweet and the healthy is the motto of our company. New products that delight and surprise our customers with high quality and special newly created, innovative ideas are introduced every year. Most of our sweets are handmade, which enhances the uniqueness of the product and achieves the result which cannot be achieved by using equipments. From the year 2008, the company "Skrveru Saldumi" is running also a Sweets workshop and welcomes tourists and local schoolchildren, where they are acquainted with the history of the "Gotia" candy in Skrveri and all over Latvia. The visitors of the workshop have the opportunity to wrap up the candies by themselves just the way our professional wrappers do day by day, make figurines from marzipan, as well as learn about the newest sweats and taste them. Currently the company "Skrveru Saldumi" employs about 110 people. Our address
