Sølvtrans

When we transport live fish with closed valves, no water is loaded or discharged to the sea during transportation and unloading of the fish. On our new vessels, we have installed lice filters with 150 for circulated water, which collect lice and other organic materials from the water. This minimizes the risk of any transported fish being contaminated by diseases, infection, sea lice etc. from the nearby fish farms. Sølvtrans transportation method includes a RSW cooling system, which during transportation reduces the temperature of the fish 1.5 degree per hour. This is a more cost efficient process than cooling the fish on shore and contributes to a less stressed fish during transportation, unloading and processing. In 2014, Sølvtrans developed a new technology for freshwater treatment. We developed this system focusing on efficiency, fish welfare, costs, environmental processing and the gill disease AGD.
