Behind the team is a collection of industry professionals, ensuring that each opportunity is maximised. They provide support for PR, media, marketing, business development, hospitality and technical back up. Initially, Spencer Sport was involved with rally teams competing in regional and national events. Then, in October 2015, the company took a significant step forward by expanding its operation to become the official distributor in the UK and Ireland for the Swedish built, R5 specification Mitsubishi Mirage rally car. To cope with the increased business, Spencer Sport refurbished and extended its premises to create a purpose-built facility for preparing and maintaining rally cars. It has also invested in a team of experienced staff and equipment, plus developed the land surrounding its workshops to incorporate a gravel rally stage and test-venue. In 2016 Spencer Sport entered the MSA British Rally Championship for the first time and, following an impressive debut season, claimed an emphatic second place. The result was particularly rewarding for the team, as it was one of only two in the whole field that recorded a 100% finishing record and scored points on every round. Another British Rally Championship campaign in 2017 saw the team competing for the title once again, scoring podium finishes in five of the season's eight rounds. It also made its spectacular entry into the British and European Rallycross Championships. Underpinning the business ethos is the team's environmental policy, minimising the impact of its ecological footprint by the way it carries out its activities. Wherever possible, it uses sustainable resources and ensures that waste materials such as tyres, oils and other consumable items are recycled or disposed of in a responsible manner.
