Spiir was founded in 2010 by CEO Rune Mai and Head of Development Guðmundur Hreiðarsson (feel free to call him Gummi). Since the very beginning, our mission has been crystal clear: We want to help people live the life they dream of with the money they have. We believe that financial happiness is not about saving every dime and penny. And it's not necessarily about getting rich. It's about spending your money on the things you love. That's why we don't tell our users how they should spend their money. Their money, their rules. We just make it easy for them to take control of their finances and stay on top of their money. To help other companies create new and innovative solutions like Spiir, we launched our open banking platform, Nordic API Gateway in 2018. Today, the Spiir app is powered by Nordic API Gateway, making it simple for people to get a clear overview of their finances with real-time financial data from all the banks in the Nordics.
