It was established on August 21st, 1997, with the objective to provide quality and affordable homes for families in Malaysia, in line with the National Housing Objective. In its formation, SPNB was given the task of developing comfortable and affordable homes through a number of programmes such as the Rumah Mampu Milik (RMM) and the Program Mesra Rakyat (PMR). To manage the many tasks mandated to SPNB, subsidiary companies was also formed which are SPNB Aspirasi, SPNB Idaman, SPNB Mesra, SPNB Edar and SPNB Dana.
