Students' Union
We are committed in the SU to do our bit for the environment. As well as supporting the University in their sustainability plans, we sign up to the NUS's Green Impact scheme (GISU). By this, we employ systems and practices that aim to protect the environment wherever possible. This covers everything from how much photocopying we do, what drinks we sell in our Squeezeboxes, what lights and taps we have in our spaces, and how we lobby the University on environmental issues. Each year, we sign up to the programme and gain accreditation (Bronze, Silver or Gold) by submitting a whole load of evidence to NUS of our green practices, as well as being audited. We have secured Silver accreditation for the last 2 years (and were the most improved Union nationally in 2012 when we 'leapt' from Bronze to Silver!). We are going for accreditation again this academic year and so will be working away at this until March 2015. Please also look at our guide to how you can be greener and help look after our planet.
