Starwest Constructions Limited operates in the rugged Star Mountains in Papua New Guinea's largest and most remote region, the Western Province. Starwest is a diversified mining and civil construction company with expertise in owning, operating and maintaining a varied fleet of construction plant and equipment. In particular, we operate the mining fleet of O&K RM200 hydraulic face shovels, along with a fleet of Hitachi EX1900 excavators which are responsible for mining 130,000 tonnes per day at the massive Ok Tedi copper mine, the largest mine in Papua New Guinea. Starwest's civil construction activities also include aggregate and concrete production, steel fabrication and concrete civil construction, pipeline construction, road construction and maintenance, airstrip construction, pile driving, marine structures, mine support activities, dredge support services and water and sewerage reticulation. All of these activities are undertaken in one of the world's wettest environments with more than 10 meters of annual rainfall and in one of the most inaccessible regions in the country. This all would not be possible without the dedicated 500 strong workforce of well trained PNG national and expatriate Starwest staff who have an outstanding safety record.
