St. Gregory Parish

St. Gregory Parish

St. Gregory Parish was established in 1862 under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Thomas R. McNally. The grammar school, staffed by the Sisters of Notre Dame opened in 1915 to teach the children of the immigrants who settled in Lower Mills. The high school opened in the 1920s. Today, St. Gregory Parish is a thriving community of faith which embraces our history while moving forward. New immigrants are still settling in Dorchester and St. Gregory Parish is still welcoming them. More than 800 families live their faith as part of an active parish. We support and encourage the faith of our younger parishioners through St. Gregory School, religious education programs and activities such as CYO. Under the leadership of former pastor, Rev. Msgr. Paul T. Ryan improvements have been made to the church. The original doors to the church were discovered and restored. The old heating system was removed replaced with a heating and air conditioning system. With the appointment of our new pastor, Fr. Vincent Daily, our parish will continue to grow and develop, we look to the future with prayerful hope the the love and joy that surrounds St. Gregory Parish will continue to be fostered in the years to come.
