St. Mark's Private School

Our goal is to maintain a year-round program of mission outreach through which everyone associated with St. Mark's participates in some area of mission work. When we become aware of a particular need, we try to put our resources to work in the best possible way. Food Pantry St. Mark's stocks a food pantry through the generous donations of our members and friends. Food is given to needy families in our area, and through this ministry, God is touching the lives of these people. Our pantry is an eligible participant in the West Texas Food Bank. Food donations may be brought to the collection box located just inside the "Offices" door of the church. Appropriate donations are shelf-stable items such as: canned goods, sealed packages of dry cereal, breakfast bars and cookies, beans and rice. Donations are appreciated and well-used. Health Care With the leadership of our members, St. Mark's holds events for the improvement of health of our community. If you have worked in healthcare (doctor, nurse, technician or office), your participation in this area would be welcomed. Manger Tree - Angel Tree You see them in the malls and other public places. Each December, St. Mark's Mission Team operates a "Manger Tree - Angel Tree" at our church. In the past, the tags have been for children of jail and penitentiary residents; children in orphanages; children of families in an outlying community of our sister city, Juarez; and children in foster care. It is one of the joyful ways you can be part of a church that cares about the community. Reading Camp In cooperation with GEMS GEMS Books for Kids, a local nonprofit organization, St. Mark's hosts and operates a month-long reading camp. Participating children are screened and receive individual attention for their particular learning needs in a fun environment. Christmas Baskets Each December, the MARK'SMEN lead the church in a Christmas Basket Project. Come to St. Mark's on "Christmas Basket Morning" and you may find yourself standing in line with a box, waiting for your turn to walk it down the line as it is filled with food ...or you may stand on the line adding the cans or boxes or sacks from your cases of food to each basket. You may be one of those who loads the boxes of food into your pickup or SUV. Or you may be specially blessed to be one of those who delivers the gifts to a family or two. Rather than require that people come and stand in line for food, we deliver the baskets to their doors, making the trip a part of the gift. This year we delivered these gifts to 216 families.
