Syncspace

Syncspace is a microISV from India. It started off as the IT division of an architect's office, namely; Sabu Francis & Associates (SFA) at Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. We have been into the research of how computers ought to be used in architecture since 1989. This investigation led to a lot of very interesting developments, including the creation of possibly one of the oldest truly object-oriented BIM (Building Information Modeler) called TAD (The Architect's Desktop). The founder, Mr. Sabu Francis, won an all India special award for research in architecture in 1991 for having proposed a simple mathematical taxonomy for architecture. This taxonomy was utilized in the BIM software and it was tested in numerous projects of the office. We believe that we architects should open up our designs for scrutiny, much the same way that open source software developers keep their software designs open for criticism and refinement. In order to support this initiative, SFA started the website of teamTAD which looks into ways by which architects could open source their design for the further betterment of humankind. We also believe that the world needs simple, affordable solutions instead of complex specialized and expensive software. And over the years we patiently worked on developing a suitable ecology to achieve that. At some point, we felt that it was necessary to follow this up with a proper, formal organization and that is when Syncspace was started as a separate organization in June 2012. Most of our solutions contain our own original IPR. We also bring in carefully hand-picked associations from relevant organizations all over the world.
