Tahki Stacy Charles

Tahki Stacy Charles, Inc. was formed in January 2000 when two well-known yarn companies - Tahki Yarns and Stacy Charles, Inc. - decided the knitting world just might be a better place if they joined forces. The blend of their two different styles - and different yarns - turned out to be a match made in fiber heaven! Together the two companies have been supplying knitters with fabulous fibers for more than 40 years. Tahki Imports Ltd., which founder Diane Friedman began as a home-based mail order business in 1968, has long been a favorite source for kicked-back, casual natural fibers and blends. Stacy Charles began selling high-end Italian novelty yarns as the exclusive North American distributor of Filatura di Crosa and other companies in 1984. In 1989, he launched his eponymous S. Charles Collezione, as an outgrowth of the Missoni Collection that preceded it. In 2000, the two companies merged and are now known as Tahki Stacy Charles, Inc. (TSC). Today TSC manages to fill almost every niche in the handknitting industry, from high-end classics and fashion-forward novelties to value-priced fashion finds and casual favorites. Four distinct brands make up the TSC collection: • Tahki Yarns are mostly natural fiber classics with an All-American look, including long-time favorites, Donegal Tweed and Cotton Classic. • Filatura Di Crosa includes elegant yarns with plenty of fashion flair (the extra-fine Merino Zara line is a favorite) and Filatura Di Crosa Baby is a deluxe collection of chic, but distinctive, yarns for the modern baby. • S. Charles Collezione is a unique couture collection of exclusive yarns in colors and textures custom-made to mix and match, featuring a number of luxury fibers and blends. • Loop-d-Loop by Teva Durham, the newest line, is a group of knitterly yarns and patterns with a modern twist, created by the famed New York designer exclusively for TSC. New patterns (both online and in print are featured semiannually for Spring and Fall) and colors support each line as the company continually strives to give knitters and crocheters what they want - an ever-growing source of beautiful fibers with which to create one-of-a-kind garments.
