Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation
TASF was founded in 1978 by four Tuskegee Army Flying School classmates: Lowell Steward, Claybourne Lockett, William Ellis and William Melton who served in the US Army Air Corps during WW II. The organization was created to preserve the legacy of Tuskegee Airmen by providing scholarships to assist financially and academical y deserving students in the pursuit of their college education. The scholarship fund, now named Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation (TASF) has granted over 1,400 scholarships totaling nearly $2 million to help underserved students pay for college. With the support of dedicated donors, government employees, corporations, and educational advocates, each year the foundation grants 40 or more scholarships to high school seniors who reflect the ideals, leadership and commitment as exemplified by Tuskegee Airmen.
