The School (SAS) was established in February 1972 and was one of the pioneers who offer external Degree since 1979. The BS (Campbell University) Dual Award Degree offered at TAR UC has gained its 3rd 10-year of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS COC) in 2011. The Faculty has a track record of producing successful graduates in both academic and industry in a wide and diverse range of applied sciences and computing areas for more than 40 years. To date, the faculty has more than 80 faculty members and has graduated more than 37,000 graduates at various level of studies. The Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (FOCS) currently runs programmes at Diploma and Bachelor (Honours) Degree levels and endeavors to offer Masters and PhD programmes in the near future. The Faculty continues the academic collaboration arrangement with the Campbell University, USA to offer Dual Award Bachelor Degree to the students. In this academic arrangement, the programme structures and syllabi of FOCS programmes are designed and arranged that students will be simultaneously prepared for the programme in FOCS in conjunction with the Bachelor of Science (BS) degree of Campbell University, Buies Creek, North Carolina, USA. Campbell University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS COC) to award Associate, Bachelor's, Master's, Education Specialist, and Doctorate degrees. This accreditation extends to all of the University's program sites, including its Bachelor of Science degree at Tunku Abdul Rahman University College in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
