Teaching Textbooks

Teaching TextbooksÔ is a family business. We (Greg and Shawn Sabouri) are the authors and teachers, and our mother, Francena, does just about everything you can think of outside of that. Our aunt Carolyn (a.k.a. Coco) is also instrumental to the running of the business as are Francis and Dorena Swearengin, who are our grandparents and Francena and Carolyn's parents. In terms of educational background, Greg has two masters degrees from Harvard (where he was also a math tutor), and Shawn has a degree in economics. Before starting Teaching Textbooks, we founded a one-room schoolhouse for academically-gifted students. Our students used early versions of our algebra materials, and many of them went on to attend colleges such as Dartmouth, Williams, and Julliard. In fact, one of our students graduated as the top mathematics major at Dartmouth in the class of 2003.
