Team Durham

The charity arm of Team Durham completed its third build of a netball/basketball court this year. We also continue to help fund Zambian team leaders who work on groups of projects for Sport in Action. Our former students, with other Wallace Group former students, have established a charity, 'The Perfect Day Foundation', and they are funding orphaned peer leaders through school whilst they work voluntarily on the projects. They are also seeking urgently to support our main street kid project Fountain of Hope who have just lost their food aid and their water supply. This is a real challenge given the 500 children who attend the Centre daily. Our partners from the Wallace group have this year sent out trainee nurses, trainee counsellors and Team Northumbria have also built three major outside courts in the last two years. It is an inspirational partnership and I had the great pleasure of attending the Wallace Group final tournament of the year run by our students with over 400 young Zambians taking part. The skill level of the young children and their sporting behaviour throughout was marvellous to see.
