The Tennessean
The Tennessean is the main newspaper serving the city of Nashville and its metropolitan area, the largest in Tennessee. The paper-which published its first issue as the Nashville Tennessean in 1907-is now owned by Gannett and is part of the USA Today Network. Like many newspapers, the Tennessean has taken a hard financial hit in recent years, leading to layoffs and being forced to leave its longtime headquarters. Those difficulties have been exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic, and the paper has instituted staff furloughs to deal with the financial difficulties.
