Timu
In 2008, Timu was founded by Matt Heaton, an avid amateur athlete who had encountered firsthand many of the communication and organizational problems faced by sports teams and their participants. Online social networking seemed a natural way to solve many of these problems. Yet, existing social networks provided disjointed solutions that did not handle sports specific features, such as player rosters, game results and statistics. At the same time, existing sports offerings and websites provide little of the interactivity and engagement expected in today's online social networking world. Thus, the vision for Timu was born, to bring together the worlds of sport and social networking into a single service offering.
