Tracker Products, originally founded in 1996 as a computer hardware and networking company, entered the world of tracking software when the Cincinnati suburb of Independence, Kentucky contracted us to research the software tracking market, purchase and implement a software solution that would be used to manage all of its data collection, evidence chain-of-custody and reporting in general. The department needed to track every piece of evidence more efficiently, from the initial log-in to the conclusion of the case. They needed to be able to document which officer did what, when, and why? The job sounded simple enough, but after searching the market, we were a bit surprised. Choices were limited, prices were high and systems were antiquated. We were confident we could develop a system that would do it much better. We began by designing our system to be browser-based, making it easily accessible. Everyone has experience with internet browsers - and that makes it easier to learn and use than software products that have to be downloaded and installed. Not only that, but licensing would be less restrictive (users could access the system from any computer with an internet connection) and updates to the system would be much more manageable (often completed remotely by the Tracker Products support team). Tracker Products' success with the Independence Police Department's system started a chain reaction. Our reputation spread, and as our software product grew more sophisticated in features and reliability, law enforcement agencies were followed by Federal Agencies (The United States Army and Navy, The United States Department of Health and Human Services and the Secret Service just to name a few) and then came E-Discovery Firms, Coroners and every kind of asset you can imagine. Simply put, the people who need to track things come to Tracker. Today, Tracker Products software is better and more feature rich than ever. We've expanded into markets beyond law enforcement, because with our infinitely customizable interface, the software can be used to track virtually anything. Hospitals, museums, financial firms and retail companies are just a sampling of the industries that make up our current clientele - and the list is constantly growing.
