Troy City Schools is committed to cultivating the relationship between school, home and the community. As a recipient of Title I funds we seek to have each parent equipped with the knowledge and understanding in helping their child through a positive educational experience within Troy City Schools. Commitment, communication and connection are vital aspects in teaching the whole child. Parents are a valuable resource to schools they possess valuable skills that are essential to its success. Therefore, it is important to have an inclusive approach in soliciting their involvement in the teaching and learning process. I. Strategies for successful parental involvement will include: Hosting special events that highlight student's work, talents, and achievement during and after school hours. Parental involvement is essential in the development of the school improvement plan. Inserts are placed in the local newspaper to inform parents of the accomplishments and student activities throughout the district. Parents are an active part of the strategic plan for the district. Parent volunteers are strongly encouraged and structured in various forms. Advertisements and upcoming events in the local media outlets. Connection newsletters Teacher calendars distributed to classroom parents. The Trojan Notebook provided by the district with all important information within a calendar. Maintaining the school and district website. Parent Orientations are conducted every summer at all three schools. Parents are involved in workshops educating them on educationese, the focus surrounding accountability and academic performance. Strategies are provided on structured parental involvement in helping students achieve academically and socially. Parent groups are encouraged to play an active role in educational direction and support.
