Το Πολυτεχνείο Κρήτης, ένα Ανώτατο Εκπαιδευτικό Ίδρυμα, το οποίο δίνει έμφαση τόσο στη διδασκαλία όσο και στην έρευνα ιδρύθηκε το 1977 στα Χανιά και δέχτηκε τους πρώτους φοιτητές τον Οκτώβριο του 1984.... Σήμερα λειτουργούν 5 Σχολές, οι οποίες έχουν θέσει πολύ υψηλούς στόχους. Πρόκειται για τη Σχολή Μηχανικών Παραγωγής & Διοίκησης, τη Σχολή Μηχανικών Ορυκτών Πόρων, τη Σχολή Ηλεκτρολόγων Μηχανικών & Μηχανικών Υπολογιστών, τη Σχολή Μηχανικών Περιβάλλοντος και τη Σχολή Αρχιτεκτόνων Μηχανικών. http://www.tuc.gr/ The Technical University of Crete, one of Greece’s Higher Education Institutions, which places emphasis both on education and research, was established in 1977 in Chania Crete and admitted its first students in October 1984.
