UWCSEA is actively involved in teaching and learning for the Circular Economy through a educational partnership with the Ellen Macarthur Foundation, a global thought-leader in this field. Workshop sponsor and UWCSEA Director of Sustainability Nathan Hunt opened the workshop by framing the CE as "a key component in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals and thus the UWCSEA mission. Transitioning from a degenerative to regenerative economy that learns from Nature's natural cycling of resources is not just environmentally imperative, but economically very attractive, with a whole range of exciting possibilities for entrepreneurs. UWCSEA also recently hosted Forum for the Future's 'Re-imagining jobs in the Circular Economy' event at the Ideas Hub which likewise showed the growing opportunities that this transition will provide for students graduating in the coming years. The global mapping initiative is the brainchild of the Circular Economy Club (CEC), a not-for-profit group headquartered in London, with an international network of over 2,600 circular economy professionals and organisations. The Singapore event was facilitated by Marialine Verdickt, founder of CircleWerkz, a Singapore-founded online solutions platform for "Conscious Consumption".
