Van Buren Public Schools

The Van Buren Public Schools Special Education Department offers a full continuum of programs and services for students who qualify for special education. Special education services are available to eligible students from birth through high school graduation, or through age 25, as appropriate. The Special Education Department operates programs that include: special education preschool, autism center-based program, resource rooms, post-secondary transition program, and homebound services. Special education teachers and staff work in all of our school buildings to provide comprehensive educational programs and services appropriate to address individual educational needs. They provide services to eligible students and work with school staff and parents, following the evaluation process, to identify potential needs for assistance. We ensure that educational accommodations, modifications and supports are available so that students with disabilities have access to a free, appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment.
