Van Dyke Public Schools

The Van Dyke Public Schools serves meals every school day. Students may buy lunch for $2.15 Elementary, $2.45 Middle School and High School or breakfast Elementary$1.05 Middle School and High School $1.35. If a doctor has determined that your child has a disability and the disability would prevent the child from eating the regular school meal, the school will make any substitution prescribed by a doctor at no extra charge. For further information, please call Jerome Kapolka, Food Service Director at (586) 758-8331. The doctor's statement, including diet and/or substitutions, must be submitted to the food service department. Students may be able to get meals free or at a reduced price. If you now get food stamps or Family Independence Program (FIP) benefits for your child, that child may receive free meals. If your household income is less than the amounts on the Income Chart published with the application, please apply for the reduced priced or free meals. A foster child may get free or reduced priced meals even if your income is higher than that on the chart. We sell reduced price lunches for $.40 and breakfasts for $.30. FOR YOUR CHILD TO RECEIVE FREE OR REDUCED PRICE MEALS. YOU MUST COMPLETE THE APPLICATION AND RETURN IT TO THE SCHOOL. APPLICATION ARE ALWAYS AVAILABLE IN THE SCHOOL OFFICE. WE CANNOT APPROVE ANY APPLICATION THAT IS NOT COMPLETE. Instructions and Income Chart are on the back of the application. You will be informed in writing of the application approval or denial.
