Vidal wines are made to enjoy with great food and good friends, so it's fitting that a Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and a Syrah from the winery have been selected as the trophy winning matches for Fish and Chips, Stir Fry King Prawns and Shepherd's Pie. This unique competition is the UK's first major food and wine matching competition where the wines are tasted blind, the only detail revealed to the judges is whether the wine is an everyday bottle (under £10) or a special purchase (over £10). Trophies are awarded based on the best match for each dish category. "Vidal's philosophy is all about the enjoyment of food and wine with friends, so in a way this competition is made for us," said Vidal Winemaker Hugh Crichton. "A focus on quality wines that complement food is what we always aim to achieve; this competition is a great way to give consumers advice and confidence with food and wine matching," he said.
