I do not drive; is transportation available for doctors' appointments and general errands? Villa Marin provides transportation services within Marin County (from Novato to Mill Valley) between 9am and 3pm. Residents with medical, hospital, or dental appointments may schedule a ride with a Villa Marin driver. Our drivers take residents shopping and on general errands on specified weekdays. There is a fee of $6 for scheduled Marin trips and $7 for scheduled San Francisco trips. Q. What services are available when I can no longer live alone? Villa Marin offers both skilled nursing and assisted living. Our skilled nursing is five-star rated by Medicare. Assisted living is available for those who need help in bathing, dressing, medication management, etc., but who are mostly independent. Skilled nursing is available for those needing assisted living and a higher level of medical care. These services are available for short-term recovery, long-term care. or permanent residence in the Health Center. Q. What long-term care is included in my medical contract? Under the current medical contract, residents are eligible for a certain number of cumulative, no-cost days for room and board in the health center. These days are available for any combination of skilled nursing or assisted living stays. The number of no-cost days decreases by 10 for each year that a new resident closes escrow after age of 74 (180 days) to a minimum of 20 days (90+ in age). After the no-cost days are exhausted, the resident pays a monthly fee to live in the health center. Under the present medical contract the fee is $137.50 per day in either the assisted living or the skilled nursing unit. Note: The fee is $275 per day in either unit for a resident with a medical exclusion.
