Sunshine Coast Destination

Visit Sunshine Coast (VSC), is a not-for-profit, membership based, destination marketing organisation, formed in July 2010. VSC's role is to lead the management and development of tourism on the Sunshine Coast. The organisation aims to promote the Sunshine Coast as a premier holiday and business events destination locally, nationally and internationally in order to achieve maximum social and economic benefit for the local community, residents and businesses. As the Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO), VSC is responsible for a geographical area that encompasses the Glass House Mountains in the south, to Rainbow Beach in the north and Hinterland and Mary Valley to the west and includes three council regions - Sunshine Coast, Noosa and Gympie. Each year, Sunshine Coast Council collects a tourism levy from commercial ratepayers. A percentage of this levy is given to VSC to support destination marketing, attracting business events and the operation of Visitor Information Centres. In the 2014/2015 financial year the Sunshine Coast Council levy raised approximately $4.65 million, of which VSC received $3.76 million. In 2014/2015, VSC also received $500,000 from Noosa Council with the arrangement ceasing on 30 June 2015.
