Wanneroo

The Wanneroo Tennis Club Inc. is the oldest and largest tennis club in the City of Wanneroo and has grown since it was established due to the hard work of its committees and tremendous support from sponsors over many years. It was first established in 1975 by Trevor Johnson a long-time resident and business identity in Wanneroo. Trevor of Crown Mushrooms was instrumental in establishing tennis in the City of Wanneroo (formerly the shire of Wanneroo.) He went on to form a Northern Districts Tennis Association and other competitions as other clubs were established in the fast growing suburbs within the shire. The Club's humble beginnings commenced at the Wanneroo Show Ground's 2 courts. As the community grew more courts were required and courts at the Wanneroo Senior High School were utilised by the Club. With the support of the local Council at the time, land in Elliot Road was put aside for a 12 court tennis complex. Subsequently the Club has grown steadily since, with its Club house commissioned by Councillor Ray Ivan in 1984. With the financial support of our major sponsors such as Crown Mushrooms and Melville Subaru, the Wanneroo Tennis Club has promoted fitness and tennis within the community for many years. Tennis is provided at all levels for both Senior and Junior players in social play and also more competitive events. The Club holds 2 major tournaments each year. They are sponsored by Property Focus WA one is a Men's & Ladies Doubles Tournament and the other is a Mixed Doubles Tournament. Our thanks to all of the Sponsors and Committee Members who have supported the Wanneroo Tennis Club over it's 35 year history.
