Waves
In 1973, a group of citizens in Fairview, Tennessee, met to discuss the needs of individuals in its community with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Determined to make waves on behalf of the individuals it wanted to serve, the group identified programs and services needed, and Waves, Inc. began. Organization of the agency progressed and financial support was sought. Not expecting this increase in the service area, the group rose to the challenge with determination. Opportunities were to be extended to all children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Williamson County. Today, there are close to hundreds of full-time and part-time employees of Waves. A broad range of services and supports are provided to over 150 children and adults each year through its Early Learning, Adult Day Services, Adult Residential, Employment, and Office Recycling Programs.
