For example, the firm represented Rock Community Bank in obtaining its charter; represented Greater Community Bank in merger acquisitions as well as the purchase and sale of branches; provided Textron Financial Corporation with legal assistance in realizing payment on its secured loans; and provides sophisticated commercial loan closing expertise to all of our bank clients. Slower economic times in the late 1980's created a need for a loan workout team comprised of our lawyers with litigation, real estate, and banking skills. This workout team has been called upon to devise, supervise and implement loan procedures throughout the United States. In fact, during the Savings and Loan crisis, Williams, Caliri, Miller & Otley, P.C. was one of a limited number of New Jersey firms to be under contract with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and with the Resolution Trust Corporation to represent its interests as conservator and receiver of troubled financial institutions in New Jersey and elsewhere. In addition, we worked in the areas of bankruptcy, insolvency, and creditor's rights. This unique ability remains with the firm for clients whenever needed. We are proud to number among our lawyers functioning in the financial services area the former Chairman of the New Jersey State Bar Association Section on Banking Law as well as an appointed member of the Bank Lawyers Council of the New Jersey State Bankers Association.
