Newton Montessori School

NMS continues to support Pennies for Peace. Founded by Greg Mortenson, author of the international bestseller "Three Cups of Tea," this service-learning program strives to broaden students' cultural horizons and teach them about their capacities as philanthropists. Funds raised through this initiative provide children, especially girls, in the mountainous regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan with schools, teachers, and supplies. Education becomes the route to a brighter and more peaceful future. Our students have joined Montessori students around the United States in collecting change and watching those small amounts grow to make a large difference in the lives of children in a very different part of the world. Through Pennies for Peace, our students are leaning that they can "Build Bridges of Peace, One Penny at a Time."
