Western Container

Western Container Corporation is a high performance company dedicated to being the premier manufacturer of PET containers for the Coca-Cola Bottling System. The company was established in 1979 by a group of Coca-Cola Bottlers who acted on the long-term need to offer a central distribution point and a reliable source of high quality low-cost plastic bottles. The initial site opened in Big Spring, Texas and produced the first bottle in July 1980. In 1984 a second plant in Houston, Texas was added. As sales grew, further expansion continued on to Rancho Cucamonga, California and Benicia, California in 1995. A fifth plant opened in Hattiesburg, Mississippi in 1998 and the sixth plant began production in Tolleson, Arizona in 2002. Because of continued growth and the need to supply additional bottlers, a facility in Fife, Washington was opened in January 2006. The Benicia, California and Rancho Cucamonga, California locations were closed in 2011. The company utilizes 36 injection molding machines and 20 blow molding machines at these five facilities. We currently have 460 members between our five manufacturing plants and the corporate headquarters in Sugar Land, Texas. In 2013 Western Container produced 5.8 billion units. In the process of making these billions of units, Western Container and Coca-Cola have taken major steps to reduce our carbon footprint by reducing the amount of raw material required in almost every product we make. This is not only good for the environment but it helps us to meet our mission of lowest cost, highest quality products because of the reduction of raw materials used. Since the Company's inception, Western Container Corporation has made a primary commitment to maintain its position on the cutting edge of technological advances and to achieve production volumes sufficient to ensure stability of supplies of raw materials. Of primary importance is the Company's commitment to maintaining close ties and collaborations with equipment manufacturers. This commitment has resulted in Western Container leadership during industry advances in both blow molding and injection technology with Western Container maintaining highly efficient plants that employ state-of-the art technology. Additionally, the Company strives to enhance shareholder value by ensuring a dependable source of high quality, low cost plastic bottles. It is this history that allows us to meet the challenges we face today with optimism for a bright future. Above all, Western Container Corporation continues to build on its commitment to our culture which includes excellence and steadfastly confirming the Company philosophy to strive forward guaranteeing the best quality and service at the least cost and providing a continuing assurance of supply.
