Parkview Elementary School, home of the Panthers, is the neighborhood school for approximately 350 students enrolled in Preschool through Sixth grade. Upon reaching seventh grade, Westville students attend Gateway Regional High School in Woodbury Heights. A wide range of services and a diverse curriculum are offered to the students enrolled in our school. • Technology continues to be expanded throughout the school. Students have access to laptops, Chromebooks, iPads, iPods and interactive response devices. Students participate in technology classes each week where they learn new strategies to utilize and infuse in all subjects across the curriculum. Smart Boards are available to teachers in classrooms or in the smartboard room and are used to make lessons interactive. • Teachers employ a Balanced Literacy approach while teaching the Common Core. Writing is integrated into reading to help students develop their own ideas and apply skills and strategies they have learned to new situations. Students are exposed to a variety of literature, both fiction and non-fiction designed to create a love of reading while promoting critical thinking skills. • Students continue to develop mathematical skills aligned to the Common Core through the use of the Everyday Mathematics program and the Center for Teaching and Learning. This hands-on interactive approach to learning math challenges students and promotes critical thinking. • The Schools Attuned Program, which is a neuro-developmental approach to learning, allows teachers and parents to work together to find the best strategies for making students successful.
