Weymouth and Portland is a thriving coastal area and an exciting place to live and work. The area blends the outstanding natural beauty of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site with easy access to the major conurbation of Poole and Bournemouth, along with a mainline railway service to London. The Weymouth & Portland Chamber of Commerce is committed to supporting the businesses, large and small, which operate in the area. Our membership ranges from sole traders to nationally recognised brands, and also includes charities and other not-for-profit organisations. Through our work with local firms we seek to support the wider community, as we promote, protect and improve our wonderful area. We run a busy calendar of networking, social and training events all year round. The mainstay of our schedule is our Business Breakfast, an extremely popular networking meeting held ten times a year (monthly, excluding August and December). Other activities include Breakfast@breakNETspeed, giving local firms the opportunity to share what they have to offer with other businesses in a fast-paced environment. We also hold education and apprenticeship events, along with a variety of social gatherings and trips, including an annual Christmas dinner. As the Voice of the South Dorset business community, Chamber representatives regularly meet with Weymouth and Portland Borough Council and other local bodies, such as Weymouth BID, to discuss issues affecting the local economy. It's important that local organisations work together for the good of the area, both now and in the future. To progress this, we affiliated with the Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry in October 2014, the first town Chamber to do so. The Chamber is led by an Executive Committee representing up to 20 local firms. Committee members are all volunteers, giving up their time to serve the wider community.
