The company, which provides a variety of manufacturing and logistics services to customers in the automotive, defense and commercial manufacturing industries, will invest $279,000 to lease and equip a 22,500 square-foot facility to launch its first independent Indiana production operation. "It's great to see a young company like WGS expand and grow in Indiana," said Governor Mitch Daniels. "We know there were other options available for this expansion, but Indiana has a business environment that encourages small business growth and WGS is the latest evidence of that." Flint, Mich.-based WGS, which currently employs nearly 20 associates in Tell City, plans to continue hiring manufacturing, distribution and inspections associates as new business is acquired. "The warm welcome and reception the WGS organization has received in Indiana and Tell City has been exceptional. WGS extends our thanks to the Perry County Development Corporation and the state for their assistance in making this opportunity a reality," said William Goetz, president and chief executive officer of WGS Global Services. "WGS is pleased to be a contributor to the Tell City community and local businesses. Indiana is a great place to do business, expand our operations and we are excited about continuing to search for future growth opportunities." Founded in May of 2008, WGS offers customers a variety of services including machining, light assembly, kitting, parts testing and warehousing. The company, which also has inspection workers stationed within its customer's facilities, employs more than 100 associates at partner companies and manufacturing facilities in Tell City and Flint. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered WGS Global Services up to $275,000 in performance-based tax credits based on the company's job creation plans. Tell City offered additional support for the project. "We are delighted to have WGS join our community and look forward to working with them on additional projects. Tell City understands what it takes to be competitive in today's marketplace and, as mayor, I am happy to play a role in helping them grow and become an economic engine within our community," said Mayor Barbara Ewing. WGS' announced expansion comes just one week after wire manufacturer, TOKUSEN USA, announced it would invest several million dollars to locate a sawing wire manufacturing facility in Scottsburg, creating up to 134 new jobs by 2012.
