Willows Pediatrics offers a wide array of laboratory services in our CLIA certified lab. We can perform the following tests in our office: Complete blood count Erythrocyte sedimentation rate Finger stick testing for hemoglobin (anemia check) Mono test Rapid strep test Throat culture Urinalysis Urine Pregnancy Test We can draw blood and collect samples in our lab for testing by the outside lab specified by your insurance. We have computer access to obtain results and determine if there are special handling requirements for blood tests. Orders from specialists for lab work can also be honored; we ask parents to make an appointment for this by calling Monday - Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, extension 1222. Please note it is not always possible to draw blood work ordered by specialists during a checkup; we ask that you check with our lab 24-48 hours prior to to your child's physical exam in order to properly prepare the paperwork and determine if any special handing is required. Please keep in mind that certain tests must be drawn early in the day; Mary, Val, or Grisel will advise you when you call. If your child or adolescent needs fasting blood work done, appointments are available from 8:30am onwards. Please note: All college-bound patients participating in sports and needing sickle cell trait testing may have this done through our lab. The results can take up to one week to come back, so please allow enough time when you scheduled your appointment.
