WOODMONT INVESTMENT COUNSEL

Woodmont Investment Counsel, LLC is an independent, fee-based registered investment adviser located in Nashville, Tennessee. Founded in 2000, Woodmont serves high net-worth individuals, families, endowments, foundations, 401(k) plans, and trusts. Woodmont?s Principals are equity and fixed-income investors with extensive investment experience throughout numerous market cycles. In addition to investment management, Woodmont also provides advice on related financial matters, often through conflict-free referrals to highly-regarded outside professionals. Woodmont is 100% employee-owned and operates within an open and team-oriented culture, thereby attracting some of the best investment talent. We believe this approach helps to successfully navigate an increasingly complex financial marketplace. In addition to stocks and bonds, today?s investors must choose from inflation-indexed bonds, mortgage-backed bonds, zero coupon bonds, preferred stocks, convertible preferred stocks, international stocks and bonds, derivatives, master limited partnerships, private equity funds, hedge funds, mutual funds and exchange traded funds (ETFs). These investment options may reduce or increase risk in a portfolio. They may be cost-efficient or expensive. They may or may not help achieve your investment goals. Our collective experience is a defining characteristic in our ability to provide prudent ongoing investment advice to our clients. Woodmont uses several strategies to meet client investment goals. Our ?Core/satellite? strategy is indexed exposure to large-capitalization companies through low-cost exchange traded funds. Allocation to mid- and small-capitalization companies and international securities through no-load, low fee, and more tax efficient funds. A broadly-diversified offering with an emphasis on regular re-balancing and keeping total costs (management and underlying investment) low. Most core/satellite portfolios include a fixed-income component. Our ?rising dividend? portfolio includes primarily large-capitalization companies with strong balance sheets, an attractive dividend yield, and a sustainable record of increasing dividends. The current large-capitalization rising dividend portfolio includes approximately 40 companies. For fixed income management, we believe risk-taking is better suited for the equity portion of a client?s portfolio and thus focuses fixed-income investments on investment grade corporate and municipal bonds with relatively shorter maturities to mitigate both credit and interest rate risk, and protect our clients? principal. Because we prefer individual bonds and not bond mutual funds, we are able to evaluate credit and interest rate risk on a bond-by-bond basis. We purchase bonds directly from institutional dealers. There are zero mark-ups/commissions to our clients and we do not inventory bonds. Selective exposure to high-yield fixed-income is prudent for some clients and we evaluate these opportunities on an individual basis. For alternative investments, we utilize external public and private managers to reduce market risk and correlation via investments in diversified strategies and asset classes. Woodmont continuously evaluates investment opportunities in hedge funds, private equity funds, venture capital, and real estate. Our investment management expertise extends to publicly-traded real estate, timber, and commodities. Woodmont manages a private U.S. equity hedge fund and a diversified multi-strategy fund of hedge funds.
