Yiptong Group

In 1960, the Yiptong Group created the brand 'Maurigas' which pioneered the use of LPG (liquid petroleum gas) in Mauritius. As proof of its success, 'Maurigas' was bought out in 1987 by a petroleum consortium, comprising of Total and Esso. However, the Yiptong Group has retained the exclusive distributorship of 'Maurigas', now called Totalgaz after the merger of Total and Elf. Today, with a turnover of over one billion Rupees (USD 35m), and an annual growth rate of 10%, the group is listed among the top 100 companies in Mauritius. Yiptong remains to this day a family run enterprise which ensures that the business values and ethics instilled by the founder of the enterprise since 1918 are perpetuated.
