Yolo County Transportation District

The Yolo County Transportation District is involved in a number of important transportation projects. First, Woodland, Davis, and West Sacramento (including Bridgeway Island and Southport) will have bus service to Sacramento Rivercat games. Next, if you are a UCD undergraduate, you should already know that your valid student ID card allows you to board YOLOBUS at no additional fee. Thirdly, we are deeply involved with the board that runs the Capitol Corridor train between Auburn and the bay area, including a stop in Davis. We are in the process of developing a proposed transfer agreement between YOLOBUS and the Capitol Corridor. Next, as soon as funds are available, we will be undertaking an alternatives analysis and environmental work to look at light rail into West Sacramento; and there is planning work under way to possibly add commuter train service between Davis and Auburn. Our biggest dilemma right now is to sort through the demand for more bus service between Davis, Woodland, West Sacramento and downtown Sacramento, particularly during commute hours. We've hired a consultant to work with us on this, and you should be hearing more on this matter in the near future. At issue is whether or not there are sufficient potential resources to add service. Additionally, we are grappling with requests for YOLOBUS to get closer to the Cal EPA building, versus an expected leap in demand to go deeper into Sacramento to serve the "East End Project" (east of the Capitol). As part of that review, we are undertaking efforts to modify our schedules to more accurately reflect true running times. We also have 13 more compressed natural gas "low-floor" buses on order. We may likely have one fewer row of seats on those buses in order to improve leg room. As you can see, there is a lot going on. Any ideas or thoughts you'd like to share are welcomed.
