Yupo
In 1969, two Japanese companies, Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation and Oji Paper Co. Ltd., had a shared vision of generating and producing paper entirely out of synthetic raw materials. Using synthetic polymers, they developed papers which are unparalleled for their combination of superior functionality and unique aesthetic appeal. Nowadays the joint-venture business which arose from this idea -the Yupo Corporation - ranks among the global market leaders with a product range of more than 50 synthetic papers and annual production capacity of more than 42,000 tons. Yupo Corporation has its head office in Tokyo, Japan. Its two production facilities are based in Japan and the USA with subsidiaries in Europe, China and India.
