Fifth Gait Technologies' staff has specific expertise in a variety of fields, including image processing, atmospheric simulations, real-time camera operation, IR and visible sensor technology, circuit and system design, and solid-state physics. Fifth Gait Technologies possesses and maintains numerous libraries of codes customized for the operation and analysis of sensors and sensor systems under various stressing conditions (turbulence, radiation, thermal effects, etc.), as well as algorithms and tools for image processing and conditioning. Fifth Gait Technologies provides a home for highly educated scientists who are interested in furthering the state-of-art in their respective areas of expertise without the constraints of a large organization. In its design the company provides a highly supportive group environment coupled with ties to large aerospace organizations such as Raytheon, Boeing, Lockheed and others. It also has ties to the California university system in Santa Barbara, Los Angeles and other locations. Many of the company's personnel come from Mission Research Corporation, a highly regarded think tank that was acquired in 2003 by Alliant Tech Systems (ATK). The company president, Dr. Kathryn Doughty, is a graduate of Caltech and UC Santa Barbara.
