7th Wave
In the summer holidays our Youth Sailing Weeks are wildly popular, with activities running every day from 10am to 5pm. Our courses are all about having fun, making friends and enjoying the great outdoors under the supervision of our qualified instructors who will ensure that all this fun happens in a safe environment. We invest in the young people who join us for activities by offering work experience, Duke of Edinburgh skills and service opportunities, assistant instructor training and many other transferable skills for the future. Youngsters can begin by learning to sail at the age 8, they can work their way through the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme. 7th Wave is also the home of the Manx Youth Sailing Squad which provides high level race training and the opportunity to compete at UK events. The squad consists of Tera and Laser sailors, all of whom are invited to join the squad by the coaches. The Squad can boast some great results including two World Champions! Established by Jen Kneale in 2006, 7th Wave is now celebrating 10 years in Port Erin! Jen is a highly experienced dinghy and keelboat racer, with a proven track record as a GBR Laser sailor and now as a Level 2 Race Coach. She holds an BA(Hons) in Maritime Leisure Management, has over 20 years experience as an RYA Instructor and 20,000 sea miles logged. She is a Yachtmaster, a trainee coxswain with the RNLI and helm on the Inshore Lifeboat. 7th Wave is a family affair, Jen's brother, Dave Kneale is the Chief Powerboat Instructor, Dave was driving RIBs at such an early age his feet didn't reach the floor from his perch at the helm! He has over a decade of Instructing experience, plus he's driven photography and press boats for Rick Tomlinson and the Volvo Ocean Race. Sailor Izzy Sharpe carries Olympic torch in 2012
