Autism Aspergers Friendship Society of Calgary
Since 2002, the Autism Aspergers Friendship Society has provided respite services for children and youth affected by autism and their families. Its unique respite support model brings youth together in typical social and recreational activities within the community, rather than in-home respite or in a therapeutic setting. AAFS’ growth continues to grow at a demanding rate. In their first year of operation, AAFS provided approximately 500 hours of service. In July 2012, AAFS provided more than 2500 hours - and the numbers continue to rise as more and more children are referred through word of mouth from families, health professionals and other agencies.
