OJSC Aiyl Bank (hereinafter referred to as Aiyl Bank) was established in 1996 by the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, with the World Bank's financial and technical assistance. Initially it was a financial institution called as Kyrgyz Agricultural Finance Corporation (KAFC). Its aim was to provide loans to private farmers and rural producers on a regular and sustainable basis. Taking into account its importance in the financing of agriculture and in order to provide opportunities of expanding the range of banking services provision to the rural population, the Board of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic issued the Decree No. 43/1 dated December 27, 2006 on reorganization of JSC Kyrgyz Agricultural Finance Corporation to JSC Aiyl Bank. During the 20 years of its existence, Aiyl Bank has made significant progress in providing access to loans for a substantial part of the rural population of the country. Presently, Aiyl Bank is one of the leading universal banks of Kyrgyzstan. Having constantly expanded the geographical area of population coverage with the loans provision service, Aiyl Bank has 32 branch, 65 savings banks and 34 field banks, 20 regional and 31 rural lending offices in remote villages. Aiyl Bank cooperates with various organizations such as the World Bank (WB), Asian Development Bank (ADB), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), China Development Bank, Eurasian Development Bank, UNDP, Kumtor Gold Company, Raiffeisen Fund, Russian- Kyrgyz Development Fund. MicroFinanza Srl (international rating agency) twice assigned the A rating to the bank by results of a detailed study (assessment) of its financial condition and compliance with the CGAP standards. The rating assigned to Aiyl Bank characterizes it to be a microcredit institution, resistant to the impact of internal and external factors, having great capacities to perform its financial liabilities and very good quality of the offered transactions.
