Abokichi

Abokichi is a Japanese-inspired food and lifestyle company founded in 2013. We specialize in onigiri, in essence a rice sandwich, and our signature OKAZU condiments. We have now delved into the world of grilled sandwiches in our own cute little store front and workspace where we serve a busy lunchtime crowd, fill catering orders, and develop more fantastic and unique products. We place a strong emphasis on sourcing locally and have made it our goal to develop relationships with the producers who supply our ingredients. We are a small, creative food business looking for a real team player to grow with us. This position could lead to a management role for the right candidate. The Counter Staff/Prep Cook is responsible for taking and filling customers' orders, handling cash, maintain stock of ingredients in the prep area and assisting with prep in the kitchen, all while maintaining an energetic demeanor. Great food and customer service are the name of the game here. You may on occasion be working at special events such as trade shows, parties, farmers' markets, etc. All Abokichi team members have some input towards the company's marketing, sales, sourcing, research, and overall operation. So if you are adaptable in a growing start-up environment, and are keen to see your contributions put into action, we are eager to hear from you. This position requires a Food Handler's certificate. Attention to detail, a compulsion to clean and organize, a high level of comfort in the kitchen, and a great sense of humour are essential for this role. This is a daytime position covering the busy lunch rush, about 30hr/week.
