Active Care
Active Care was started in 1989 by Lisa Giannone. Lisa has extensive experience in human biomechanics and physiology after earning her undergraduate degree from UCLA and postgraduate training in Physical Therapy at UCSF. She has local and national consultative relationships with professional athletic teams as well as Olympic and collegiate athletes. Her advice is frequently solicited by teams, institutions, athletes and physicians from all over the United States and abroad. She has given national and international lectures on topics such as biomechanics, rehabilitation and training. Giannone also serves as a rehabilitation consultant for several biotechnology and sports medicine companies for whom she has designed the rehabilitation protocols for orthopedic surgical procedures. Her treatment protocols are used by physical therapists and athletic trainers all over the country. Her approach was featured in a Sports Illustrated article after her successful rehabilitation of Jerry Rice from a potentially career threatening knee injury. She has also worked extensively with many other college and professional football, basketball and baseball players as well as gold medal Olympic athletes. In addition to this, Active Care has enjoyed a long relationship with the performing arts industry in the Bay Area, including members of the San Francisco Ballet, directors, actors, stuntmen and musicians.
