Aecid
AECID was established to fully promote development, conceived to be a fundamental human right. AECID believes that fighting poverty is an essential process in establishing the right for development. Hence, the AECID adheres to the guidelines of the IV Master Plan, in accordance with the international calendar of the Millennium Development Goals, with special attention to three transversal elements: the perspective on gender, environmental conditions and respect for cultural diversity. The AECID is ascribed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation through the State Secretary for Foreign Affairs. Law 23/1998 dated July 7 of the same year has designated the AECID as the executive arm of the Spanish Aid, and patterned its objectives after the following priorities: fomenting development and equality in international relations, prevention and attention to emergency situations, advancement of democracy and strengthening ties with partner countries. To make all these possible, the AECID relies on various instruments such as technical cooperation, economic and financial cooperation, humanitarian aid and education for social development and awareness. AECID, together with its partners, operates in more than 30 countries through its network of Technical Cooperation Offices, Cultural Centers and Training Centers. About AECID
