American Factory Direct Furniture is a third generation family owned and operated business. Owner's Bob and Billie Comeaux have kept the original business philosophy that Bob's father started in 1937, but with an added twist. Bob's father was known in New Orleans as "the discount king". When Billie joined the business it brought the designer look that was desperately needed. Their concept is simple: " A designer look at factory direct pricing with local service." How did this legacy begin? If it's true that opposites attract, it's also true that they make great business partners. Such was the case with Bob and Billie. In 1974 they were married and a marriage of price and design was born. "We went to the Highpoint, North Carolina furniture market for our honeymoon and it's been furniture ever since", laughs Billie. Bob has always been about price… Billie is all about design… the combination of the two is what makes the business work. Bob and Billie both consider themselves blessed with individual talents, but do not take credit for their success in business. "Looking back we see how God has had his hand in our business and our family", states Billie. After the original store closed in the early 1990's, what originally seemed like a major setback, turned into a great blessing. This enabled Bob and Billie to spend time with their children during their critical adolescent years. In 1996 Bob and Billie opened American Factory Direct Furniture's Mandeville location, in the spring of 2008 they opened their state of the art Distribution Center. Since then, they have opened locations in Long Beach, Mississippi and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This has added to their buying power, enabling even better prices for their customers. Bob and Billie have two of their three children working in the business. The four family members working together is really a unique asset in today's business world.
